I struggle with…

Social Media.

Not a unique selling point, I know.

It does not seem to solve a problem in my world. I think it would create more.

  1. I have contact with the people I feel I need to have contact with. I can send e-mails, sms and call them. Another line in, another messenger does not come with any benefit for me. It forces me to check that one as well. Drawbacks actually.

  2. I’m not interested in having a look what my friends did last weekend, last month or just now without having contact to them. I would just compare what I did with that and probably loose. Feel inadequate and living a boring life.

  3. Many appointments and meeting seem to only be able to be realised when they are organized on social networks. It would be easier, if everybody had it, if everybody used it. For me the disadvantages outweigh the benefits. Not worth joining for events only.

  4. Discussions. I wonder how many of those discussions will be available still for re-reading or contribution in the near or far future? I still find threads in old forums, that can be extended. I’ve got my doubts that this will be available everywhere.

  5. Single platform. I struggle with putting all my eggs in one basket. Handing over my memories, daily-life, my good and bad days into another platform, unsure if I can get them back, where my stuff ends up with. I don’t like to give that up.
