Lisa Hannigan/Passenger¶
Lisa Hannigan and her Album Passenger smoothless fits into the rows of previous posts on this blog. This irish girl woman doesn’t need to step back behind similar artists like The Dø, Emiliana Torrini or Joanna Newsom. From my point of view she can even step a little bit forward maybe…
Lisa dropped two albums so far. And even if they might sound quite similar at first, the aren’t. I can’t really put my finger on it but her 2008 album didn’t have the same impact on me as this one from 2011. It’s not worse, though, just strike you different.
As somebody mentioned: It’s hard to not fall for it.
While Home opens the album like somebody leading you to the dance square under lanterns on an autumn celebration, at latest two songs later you’ll find yourself dancing to _Knots_ and you’ll be sweating at the end of the album. Alternatively you can just sit down and listen through the whole album. Either way, this album is a great piece of music.
Currently Lisa Hannigan is touring through Australia - too far away. She should rather come back to Europe and play here, I think. That would give me chance to go to a concert.
