Blocked site¶
Today this site and some others hosted on the same webspace were not available for some time. I was just out of my home when I got an email from my hoster telling me that they had blocked the access to the webspace. The email seemed still to work - luckily.
It turned out some idiot has used a WordPress installation I just opened two weeks ago to get a temporary website up and running to plant some malicious files and malware in my file structure as some php files. Bastard.
That triggered some automatism on the hoster site to block the webspace. So I had to bow down in front of the hoster, do all the _necessary_ steps to secure the webspace and get the lock removed.
Two weeks. That is all it took for somebody to automatically scan for the WordPress installation (which was on the latest version and all updates applied), and infect it.
Years ago that was one of the reasons to move from the dynamic web system “WordPress” to the static blog engine this side now is running on. I did not have any hassle with the blog during this time and it always was running and nobody and nothing fucked with it.
Until I gave WordPress another chance. sigh
