3D cinema

For a long time I haven’t been to the cinema. Though I had plans to do it, the lack of movies good enough to pulling me in just did its own. Yesterday I got convinced to give it a try again and to watch Gravity. My expectations weren’t to high set were surely not met either.

The only version to watch this movie in a cinema is only possible in 3D. I haven’t been a big fan of 3D so far, but could watch one or two movies like that in year without getting too much headache.

The pain with 3D is constantly increasing on so many different levels, that I’ll now stop joining the “game” the industry wants to play. I have now quite a collection of 3D-glasses at home: a pair from every visit and I pay. There’s no reason why they shouldn’t be given out freely and collected afterwards. Instead the price of a cheap pair of 3D-glasses comes in addition to the tickets. Those are more expensive than usual as well, since 3D” is a “higher” quality and therefore should be priced higher.

Then there’s the fact that the those movies force you to follow the point of focus of the camera. I cannot look around freely and have to follow the pictures in a certain way.

All this ends up for me to avoid actively in future all movies labeled as 3D. I’m tired of having to get those glasses, to pay more and to not being able to enjoy a good movie the way I want.
