Concert: Moddi¶
It’s is very nice to have a quite concert every now and then. The only downside usually is, that halv part of the audience chooses to have a small talk while nipping on a drink instead of joining the crowed. Only a handful of musicians manage to even catch those ones who are hooked to the bar. Turning up the volume is the usual strategy to remind them that something is going on there beside their selfish little world.
Moddi is one of those who manage. Maybe he’s just better in attracting the right type of people. Maybe he just make his show just interesting enough for the people. What he definitely does is to catch their hearts.
If you’ve ever seen a Norwegian crowed in the hands of a musician, than you probably have an idea of what happens there. Only the national groups heroes are able to create that kind of magic. They turn grown-up men into kids when pulling out childhood songs, they make old ladies cry. It’s quite a phenomenon.
Pål has his own, kind way of doing this. You can feel the effort and work he has put into his music. He lets you know that he shares the music with you for a little moment; while it’s there.
Things like this make me go over and over to his concerts, wherever they are. No matter how small the stage is he has to get on, no matter how much space he has to fill. Moddi is one of the few where I wonder every time why there are no bootlegs of every concert. I regret this every single time.
