Godspeed You! Black Emperor/Lift Your Skinny Fists Like Antennas to Heaven

This is gonna be a weird one. Godspeed You! Black Emperor from Canada was probably quite popular at the millennium break. But this is already a long time ago. I’ve discovered them in 2010 if I remember correctly. Anyway: Far too late as it seemed.

Until now. Because GY!BE has announced a new tour. Currently only through Australia, but at least they’re still playing! Never give up hope!

Their music is not really for dancing, more for listening. It’s like classic, if you know what I mean: Listening OK, dancing you may try.

Same here. Though it clearly is coming from the Rock category, as soon as this album gets you, you’re not gonna be released until the end. And that’s also the moment when you’re going to looking around, confused and wondering where the time has gone. If you put it on repeat (the whole album, I mean), then you’re going to have a problem anyway. Because it will not let out again.

GY!BE isn’t know for just any reason to be quite extensive when it comes to playing - you’ll see hear how they build up and tear down whole universes of sound and stories before your ears and in your mind….

Best to just close your eyes, put the headphones on and … listen….
