Three weeks after the bombing

Three weeks after the bombing in Oslo (which I luckily missed) most of the news in world have focused their attention to other spots of fire in other countries.

But for the people here it is still very present and as more often as you go down to the city centre as more often you get reminded what happened a while ago. It puts the problems of other cities and countries somehow in perspective and reminds you that we  all share common ground.

So I made a tour around the centre of the explosion exactly three weeks after the 22nd. July and tried to document the current status of the ongoing repair. Until I went with the camera through the city and tried to spot specifically the damage, I didn’t realise that most of the signs (mainly the broken windows) I don’t see in a normal day. They’re just not in the field of perception, mainly ignored I’d say.

People are still putting down flowers everywhere, everyday. But from the daily chats the event has mainly been replaced by every-days topics. But sometimes you start talk about last month, what happened. You get angry, you express your not-understanding and your not-believing. At the end you switch to something else.

Maybe that’s the common way to cope with it.
