Spyder

To my lists of Gadgets another one has been added: The Spyder2Pro Monitor color-adjustment tool. Yes, it’s a bit outdated since the version 3 came out recently, but I couldn’t see the point why I should by a new one, when the older one has been proven OK and is working. And if I can buy it used: even better.

So what is it doing? You stick it to your monitor while running a software which fiddles around with the colors on the screen. Then the software tells you to adjust your screen a bit (if necessary) and creates a color-profile for your. By importing this into your system-configuration and your graphic-tools you can make sure that an image you’re working with always looks the same, no matter what tool or Monitor you’re using. You do it usually once or if you change your Monitor.

It’s a bit tricky to get it running on Linux, but if you’re using Mac or Windows it’s supposed to work perfectly and easy. So if you feel the need of this because you’re into Photography or Graphic or something else: Give me a call and I’ll most probably borrow it out.
